Project Overview

We were specified with Pat Carr Architects on this impressive residential project and we worked with them from initial design stage. They were particularly interested in working with the Sky-Frame system because of the aesthetically-pleasing slim profiles and as a system that is capable of achieving larger measurements than most. The design team indicated what they were trying to achieve in terms of performance particularly because of the coastal location. It was necessary for the system to offer thermal insulation and structurally to be able to withstand storm-strength wind. Aesthetically they also wanted to maximise the use of glazed panels to make the most of the breathtaking view. The project engineer provided us with a typical windload for the site which enabled us to design a system that would meet that requirement. We utilised Sky-Frame 3, a triple-glazed system, with two automated panels to create a vast expanse of glass measuring approximately 17.6 metres in width at it’s widest section, and 3.2 metres in height. The minimalist aluminium profiles were also powder-coated to coastal specifications to withstand the harsh elements that come hand-in-hand with the location.
