Electronic Locking

The electronic access control system decides who has access and when they shall have access. A vital component of the system is the electronic door locking device. This device receives the unlock and lock instruction from the system. There are three main forms of electronic locking device; an electric lock, magnetic lock and an electric strike.

Electric Locks

Security with good aesthetics

Electric locks are morticed within the door and offer both security and good aesthetics. They are available as a single point traditional mortice lock or as a 3-point locking system. Electronic door locks include motor locks with deadbolts withdrawn by motor, as well as solenoid locks where the handle is controlled as engaged or disengaged.

Electric Strikes

Versatile and available in two types

Electric strikes are typically morticed within the door frame and are versatile as our range is compatible with many lock brands. Electric strikes are available in two basic types; fail lock (also known as fail secure) strikes lock when the power is removed, the door is locked and fail unlocked (also known as fail safe) strikes lock when power is removed the door is unlocked.

Magnetic Locks

Locks for multiple applications

Magnetic locks are appealing as they can suit many applications, yet surface magnets lack visual appeal. Magnetic locks fail unlocked (also known as fail safe) and remain locked when power is applied. In the event of a power failure, and when the battery backup is exhausted, the doors will unlock. For this reason an additional mechanical locking method is required.

Magnetic locks are generally grouped by their holding force, where a slimline magnet will provide a 600lb (272kg) holding force and a larger standard magnet will provide a 1,200lb (545kg) holding force. A holding force of 2,700lb can be achieved with our shearlocks.

Mortice magnets and architectural housings will improve the door aesthetics.
