We were specified by Architects Henry J Lyons and tendered successfully with contractor PJ Hegarty to provide specialist bespoke fire-rated glazed screens and doors for the lobby areas of each floor in this prestigious financial building. There was a requirement for both integrity and insulation performance for optimum protection. We elected to use EI120 rated glazed screens and EI60 rated glazed doors for this project. It was important that the glazed screens had the same protective rating as the surrounding concrete walls. It is quite typical for the doors to have a slightly lesser rating. We also provided integrated hardware on these fire-rated glazed doors which were also linked into the buildings fire alarm system. The design team were looking to achieve a modern, sleek aesthetic throughout the building and therefore we used slim, minimalist schuco frames for the glazed screens and doors, allowing for both superb aesthetics and reliable performance. We also provided a steel door solution on the ground floor, basement and across the stairwells of the building to provide internal fire protection and a protected emergency escape route to facilitate egress of building occupants in the event of an evacuation.
