Durable, aesthetic and modern automation and access solution for large industrial building
This design & Build industrial project was built specifically for the end user client and involved the demolition of an unused 73,000sq ft facility with a state-of-the-art 120,000 sq ft industrial building with office space spanning across three stories.
KCC were subcontracted by Main Contractor Dundalk Fabrication & Coatings as part of the project to advise on and provide an automation and access strategy that would work for the client and building visitors. The brief included a requirement for a modern, durable and aesthetically-pleasing automatic revolving door entrance system on the main facade of the building, allowing for controlled and smooth access and egress into the main lobby space. Internally, we specified and provided a series of speedlanes in both the main reception lobby & in the warehouse entry/exit points, as part of the access strategy, in addition to swing automation for wheelchair access.
For the main automated entrance system into the building we elected to use the Tormax T5 Classic 3 wing fully automatic door with adjacent night sliding security doors.
Internally we used DaoSafe DS-Q70 speedlanes for the main lobby and reception area which offer both form and function with a slim, modern aesthetic that offers efficient and secure access and egress to authorised building users. In the warehouse we used the more robust DS-212 lanes.
As part of the access strategy there was a requirement for wheelchair accessibility and therefore we specified, supplied and installed DormaKaba ED250A operators to the external swing doors complete with electric panic hardware in accordance with EN 1125.
