Enable Ireland Children Services Building & Respite Centre

Various solutions for specific needs of newly built respite centre

This impressive Enable Ireland facility is located on a seven acre site in Curaheen, Cork, and was designed to provide vital therapy and support services for children with disabilities and their families. The newly built centre houses a hydrotherapy pool, therapy rooms and sensory rooms to accommodate the needs of current and future children with disabilities. The site also accommodates a children’s respite house, where children with disabilities can develop their independence skills and the location, close to the Curaheen flyover, provides easy access for families. We created a bespoke specification for CJ Falconer Architects for this project and won the project tender. We provided a fit-for-purpose internal ironmongery package to meet the needs of the building users. We also supplied and installed a double swing door automated entrance system to faciliate the ease of access for users of all abilities to the building. Internally we provided an automated swing door system for the hydrotherapy pool area. We also supplied and installed GEZE window actuators for smoke and heat ventilation for the out-of-reach windows in the building and automated them for ease of use by building management. We also designed a bespoke key chart and master key system for the project for monitoring and controlling staff access throughout the building. This also ensures maximum security within the building as keys cannot be copied or cut without consent from the building manager.
