Project Spotlight: Integrated Door, Access & Glazing Solutions at AMIC, Newtownabbey

KCC Group supported the delivery of the new Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre in Newtownabbey with a coordinated package of door, access, architectural hardware and fire-rated glazing solutions.

As a major innovation-led facility, AMIC has been designed to support advanced manufacturing, research and collaboration in Northern Ireland. The scale and purpose of the building meant the project required carefully coordinated solutions that could support safety, security, accessibility and long-term day-to-day performance.

KCC Group delivered a wide-ranging scope of works across the project, including architectural ironmongery, electronic locking systems, integrated timber door sets, swing door automation, a speed gate entrance system, and fire-rated glazed screens and door systems.

A project of this nature brings together a wide variety of spaces, each with its own requirements.

From high-performance manufacturing and research areas through to teaching, workplace, circulation and visitor spaces, each part of the building needed to be considered in terms of access, durability, fire safety, security and ease of use.
